Horizon Zero Dawn Patch 1.32(for those who want to enjoy the story).
So Guerilla Games has released a patch and it features an easier mode for those who want to enjoy the story.
I have to say I’m a little torn. Horizon Zero Dawn is currently 49.99 on PS4. I’m not sure if I feel it’s worth 49.99 to have a game story handed to you. I played on normal mode, I’m not a hardcore player and felt normal was a good difficulty.
One thing I can tell you is at the beginning hours of the game, I felt like the world was in fact dangerous. I could tell, as I roamed the land, I couldn’t just go anywhere I wanted. I knew would get my butt handed to me if I took a wrong turn or got too curious about my surroundings. Like, Walking the banks of a river would likely hold a Snapmaw or seven that I’d have to run from. Or in the ruins of buildings stalked a couple Sawtooths that I had to hide from while running for cover over and over until I was safely away. As the game progressed I was able to hold my own and understand who I could pick a fight with and who would pick a fight with me. Until I made it to the ultimate armor and then I owned the land! That is honestly what made me enjoy the story! To really feel I was there with Aloy (the main protagonist) as we learned the outside world and discovered everything together.
As the game progressed, I was able to hold my own and understand who I could pick a fight with and who would pick fights with me. And then, I unlocked the ultimate armor(the shield weaver armor)and then I owned the land! Like ALL THE LAND!! It was truly an accomplishment to get that armor and I was a little annoyed Aloy(the main protagonist) wasn’t falling over herself that she got it…But that’s just me…maybe.
The accomplishment is honestly what made me enjoy the story! I really felt like I was there with Aloy as she learned the outside world and discovered everything. We were together.
I guess I feel a difficulty that helps you burn through a 50 dollar game is a little bit of a waste. I am reasonably sure Guerrilla Games didn’t just create an easier mode based off of no feedback as to the difficulty. But I think whoever wants an easy experience is cheating themselves out of a great personal experience with the main character!
What do you think? Have you played it and understand where I’m coming from?
